Today the keyword ‘Agoraphobia’ has become the most searched word all across the web because of an upcoming television show called ‘Obsessed’, a show in which a whole family is going to be featured as the patients of Agoraphobia disorder.
‘Obsessed’ is a reality show, so the family featured in the show won’t be allowed to go outside their house. According to the show’s preview synopsis “the man of the house named ‘Al’ has Agoraphobia disorder and he doesn’t leave his house at all. The daughters of ‘Al’ also have Agoraphobia disorder but not up to that extent their father has”.
In “Obsessed” the family having Agoraphobia disorder would be treated through behavioral therapy to help them fighting against the Agoraphobia disorder and to defeat it using practical and positive motivation techniques.
As per the knowledge about this kind of disorders, People, who suffer Agoraphobia, always feel an unknown fear of open and public places as Agoraphobia disorder is generally related to the fear of social interaction.
However, in medical sciences the term Agoraphobia is more related to the fear of being in a busy public place than the fear of open spaces because even in open spaces agoraphobic people can find places to hide themselves but not in busy public places and under the influence of this kind of behavioral disorder a person always try to hide from other people and try to avoid interaction with those whom he don’t recognize.
