Alexander McQueen was a British Fashion Designer. Best known for his dramatic fashions, he used to design outfits for countless celebrities including Bjork, Lady Gaga, Rihanna and David Bowie.

Alexander McQueen’s styles were always inspiring and today, even after months of his death, many of his creations still amaze people from all around the world.

Born and bred up in Lewisham, London, Alexander McQueen grew was the youngest in a family of six children. According to his elder sister, for whom Alexander McQueen started making dresses when he was very young, said “my brother’s love for fashion was quite evident at an early age”.

As he turned 16, Alexander McQueen began a journey of numerous apprenticeships on Savile Row, which is a shopping street in Mayfair, London and learned many skills that helped him earn his place as an expert in the world of fashion for tailoring the faultless outfits.

After completing his apprenticeship, Alexander McQueen began working as a pattern cutter tutor at Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Design. Afterwards he moved a bit ahead in his journey to become a legendry fashion designer by attending the school himself, where he earned his master’s degree in fashion design and soon after, in year 1997, he got his first big task when Icelandic singer Bjork sought after him to provide fashions for her album cover titled ‘Homogenic’.

Ultimately, Alexander McQueen initiated his own fashion company and not only did he turn out to be a trendsetter on the runway, he also ‘single-handedly’ is liable for the start of many fashion drifts like the ‘low rise jeans’.
