Indian-origin British actress, Archie Panjabi, who is best recognized for her role in a 2002 dramedy film called Bend it like Beckham, has won the Emmy award in the category of ‘Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series ’ for her role in ‘The Good Wife’, an American legal drama that aired for the first time on CBS on 22nd September, 2009.

At the eve of 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards, held at Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, actress Archie Panjabi, who started in England as an actress with her first role significant to her background, bagged her first Emmy win after she was set into rivalry against Elisabeth Moss, Christina Hendricks, Sharon Gless and co-star Christine Baranski, who was also nominated for appearance in ‘The Good Wife’.

According to Archie Panjabi, although her first role was quite relevant to her ethnicity, yet she had always wanted to kick-off her career and to play a role where her ethnicity wasn’t the main subject.

Prior last night’s winning, Archie Panjabi has won the Best Actress for her role in ‘Yasmin’ in 2004, at the Reims Festival in 2006 and was also awarded with the Shooting Star Award at the Berlin International Film Festival 2005.

And now with her surprise Emmy win in the Best Supporting Drama Actress category, Archie Panjabi, who made her film debut in the British hit film titled ‘East Is East’ in 1999 and then went on to appear in an international blockbuster movie called ‘Bend It Like Beckham’, is the year’s new running-off television star.
