United States officials have denounced the plans by a Florida priest to observe the ‘Burn a Koran Day’ on 11th September, 2010 calling it an ‘un-American’ move that can possibly jeopardize the peace and harmony in the country.

Gen Petraeus, US Army General, told The Associated Press and The Wall Street Journal “the Taliban and other militants would undoubtedly use the ‘Burn a Koran Day’ to stir up public opinion and inflame violence in our country. So, it should better be stopped by the political officials of USA”.

According to PJ Crowley, a spokesman to the State Department, proposal and decision to celebrate the ‘Burn a Koran Day’ by the Californian pastor, Terry Jones and his followers is utterly provoking, troublesome and disrespectful.

PJ Crowley said “United States of America has witnessed a number of voices absolutely rejecting such an idea and strongly pointing the finger towards the decision to celebrate the ‘Burn a Koran Day’, so, as we all know that the USA is a nation of almost 300 million people and majority of Americans has stood against the ‘Burn A Quran Day’ idea, it should be disapproved”.

PJ Crowley called the idea to observe the ‘Burn a Koran Day’ an inappropriate and disgusting plan that can not only ruin American interest, but at the same time can also put millions of innocent American lives at risk of death!

PJ Crowley further added “9/11 can be commemorated in lots of alternative ways instead of the Burn a Koran Day”.
