Butch Lupinetti has passed away during a family trip to Italy earlier this month. He was 69. According to various sources, Alexander Butch Lupinetti was died of a substantial heart attack while enjoying his vacations in Pompeii, Italy on 4th August, 2010.

Butch Lupinetti, who was an iconic barbeque chef of South Jersey, had been competing nationally for twenty long years and prior his sudden and unexpected death, Butch Lupinetti racked up over 600 awards and had also defeated celebrity chef Bobby Flay in a Food Network cook-off.

As Butch Lupinetti’s father was of pure Italian breed, Butch Lupinetti often called himself a boy who he grew up on tomato gravy along with pasta and meatballs. According to Butch Lupinetti, his love and passion for food was with him since the early age as during his childhood, Butch Lupinetti used to help his mother in peeling and chopping vegetables while his father usually prepared fresh meat.

The family had farm where they raised chickens and hogs.

Last year, Butch Lupinetti coauthored a book titled ‘Butch’s Smack Your Lips BBQ Cookbook’.

In 2003, Butch Lupinetti, while giving an interview to the Inquirer reporter, said “My daddy barbecued; that’s just what you did on the farm, honey.”

Although the veteran BBQ King has died and vanished from the face of the earth, however Butch Lupinetti, the 69-year-old master chef best known as the BBQ King, will certainly be remembered for his cooking passion and his zest for life in years yet come.
