According to details, Texas based Conroe Independent School District (ISD) has recently completed construction projects, that were part of the 2008 bond referendum approved by voters , of summer that worth round $47 million.

The major section of the $47 million was the more than $29 million that was spent to enhance the front entrances at seven campuses of Conroe ISD including Wilkerson Intermediate, Washington Junior High, Travis Intermediate, Hailey Elementary, Glen Loch Elementary, Rice Elementary and Ford Elementary.

Beside the biggest portion of spending, another $2.4 million has also been used to set up burglary systems, security doors, fire alarms, new phone systems and security cameras intercom systems in 27 schools.

A total amount of $1.8 million was also spent on Chiller and air-handler alteration work t at seven campuses, whereas roof replacement and repair work took place at 10 campuses of Conroe ISD and all five district high schools also received girls’ softball overhauls for almost $2.5 million.

The director of facilities and maintenance operations at Conroe ISD, Bobby Burns, said “We have never tried to pull this off before. We got our fire marshal release on all schools on Wednesday morning and we’re ready to move kids into the new buildings. We are up and ready to advance”.
