Markoff, a 24-year-old former medical student who was accused of killing a masseuse whom he met through Craigslist which is a classified advertising website, has reportedly ended his life himself in the Boston jail.
According to the authorities ‘Craigslist Killer Dies’ occurred when the former clean-cut Boston University medical student, who was accused of being the Craigslist Killer, killed himself in a Boston jail cell, where he was awaiting trial, on Sunday 15th August, 2010.
Apparently, the Craigslist Killer, who was in the cell in Nashua Street Jail, committed a suicide as there was no other person in the cell with him.
The ‘Craigslist Killer Dies’ reportedly happened when jail officials found Markoff still in his cell on Sunday morning and after his medical check up, the authorities came to know that the Craigslist Killer was dead.
According to the reports issued by The Boston Globe, Steven Tompkins, who is a Suffolk County Sheriff’s office spokesman, said “Philip Markoff was pronounced dead at 10:17 am”.
Authorities said “we will investigate the facts and try to figure out the original reason of his death that whether he was killed or really committed a suicide”.
The Craigslist Killer was awaiting his trial in the 14th April, 2009 shooting to death of a 25-year-old New York masseuse named Julissa Brisman, who had journeyed to Boston after promoting her services on Craigslist.
County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley and Boston Police Commissioner Edward Davis told the press “all proofs collected so far are indicating that Markoff took his own life, though an examination is ongoing”.
