A national outbreak of salmonella in eggs has sickened hundreds of people since May and appears to be ongoing, so in order to tackle down this problem one of the largest egg companies in USA has announced a nationwide ‘Egg Recall’ because of possible salmonella contamination in farm eggs.

Wright County Eggs, an egg producing company based in Galt, Iowa, voluntarily initiated the ‘Egg Recall’ after industry and government efforts had led the companies towards more strict standards to avoid contamination of eggs.

According to the egg company “the suspect eggs come in packages stamped with one of these three plant numbers: P1026, P1413 and P1946”. It further added that, the easiest way to tell, whether your eggs are part of the recall or not, is to check the end of your egg carton. If any of above stated numbers is stamped on your carton, then look cautiously at the number that follows.

If the number stamped on your carton falls anywhere between136 to 225 – the 136th day of the year falls on 16th May and 225th day is 13th August – then take the eggs and the carton back to the store where you bought it and get a full refund from there.

The type of salmonella that has caused the outbreak in country and the ‘Egg Recall’ as well is ‘Salmonella Enteritidis’.

According to medical sciences, it is the most common form of salmonella. The normal level of laboratory-confirmed cases nationally for this specific type is about 50 cases per week.
