Epilepsy is a very common and persistent neurological disorder that is often defined, in traditional medical sciences, as single unprovoked seizures i.e. transient signs of abnormal or excessive activities in brain.

But according to the advanced medical sciences Epilepsy is more than just a single neurological disorder; it’s a syndrome disorder with vast and contrary symptoms.

Epilepsy is termed as a quite controlled disorder, but it can not be cured with medication because a recent research has shown that over 30 percent of its patients are suffering with uncontrollable seizure even with the best medical treatment.

Although some doctors are of the view that brain surgery is a fairly useful method to cure an Epilepsy patient, however advanced studies have clearly shown that epileptic seizures may even occur as a result of brain surgery in recovering patients.

Epilepsy has numerous syndromes and only very few among them are lifelong as most forms are limited to certain stages of childhood. Although it is an analyzed fact that Epilepsy is commonly found in people over 65 years of age and young children; however

it is also true that it can occur at any stage of your life. According to a recent report almost 50 million people around the glob have epilepsy and most among them are living in third world countries.

A free Epilepsy education event will be held tomorrow on 24th June, 2010 at Strong Museum of Play under the supervision of University of Rochester Medical Center, where Prof. Robert Gross( MD, PhD) will present on Behaviors Surrounding Epilepsy.
