According to BBC, rapper Jay Z has topped this year’s ‘Forbes rap rich list’! It is reported that the sensational rapper has grossed nearly $37 million in this fiscal year. This wasn’t a surprise for anyone who has been following his earnings for the previous years.
Jay Z consistently took the fourth spot on this list since the past four years! It is sometimes rather startling to see rappers (with hardly any formal education) making much more money than the professional actuarial or investment bankers! Hail talent!
Diddy conquered the second place on Forbes rap rich list. He made approximately $35 million in the previous twelve months! Kanye West has cashed from the phenomenal talent of Jay Z. Experts claim that Kanye’s success this year (earned $16 million and bagged the third spot) was primarily because of his joint album with Jay Z; ‘watch the Throne’.
Forbes magazine has reported that the topper of the list, Jay Z, made the majority of his earnings from the ‘end of his world blueprint 3 tour’.
The combined earning of the top 20 rappers on the Forbes list was $271 million with thirteen rappers earning more than $10 million this year. The money earned by all the artists primarily comes from live shows, recorded music, businesses and endorsements. The earnings were augmented between the periods May 2010-11. The entire data to produce the final list was collected from numerous sources; Pollstar, Recording Industry Association of America and Nielsen Soundscan were the main contributors.
