Six painful years ago, Gary Allan lost the love of his life, his wife Angela Herzberg.
During all these years Gary Allen has taken to music to express his love for his wife and find some internal peace and ironically his popularity has touched new heights after Angela’s death.
After churning out seven studio albums, Gary Allen is back with his eighth album titled “Get off on the Pain”. The album consists of 14 tracks and the album has earned a 4-star ranking from the Country Weekly magazine.
The title song of the album sets the tone of the rest of the album. The track ‘That Ain’t Gonna Fly’ shows Allen’s realization of the fact that whiskey and women are just an illusion and they aren’t the real cure for heartaches.
The ballads on the album are what really give the album a melodious boost. The tracks such as ‘Along The Way’ and ‘She Gets Me’ both portray a wanderer who acknowledges how much his lover loves and sacrifices for him. The song ‘No Regrets’ is dedicated to his wife Angela, who committed suicide after struggling to cope with depression, and its about the pain that Allan had go through after the tragic episode.
According to Allan the album is his collection of thoughts. He says that he’s been living a relentless life out there but and its been the same for him for 4-5 years now. IT has been a healing process for him since his wife passed away. Music is just his way of keeping his mind on something else.
