Co-directed by Darren Grodsky and Danny Jacobs, Humboldt County is the story of a human soul in search of happiness and about the unexpected places we can sometimes call home.

On the edge of the continent and the margins of society is a region of California known to some as “The Lost Coast.” It is there, in Humboldt County that Peter Hadley (played by Jeremy Strong), a promising but disillusioned medical student discredited by their teacher ends up falling in the midst of a community of farmers and growers of marijuana a quaint but eccentric family played by Frances Conroy, Fairuza Balk, Chris Messina, Brad Dourif, Madison Davenport.

‘Humboldt County’ is one of those stories that will paint a smile on his face, with that laugh out loud at times, but an aftertaste that leaves you a little sad at the back of the throat. It begins as a love story. But do not be fooled. Ten minutes later the girl, Bogart, disappears with the car and leaves the protagonist, Peter, with his family, dedicated to raising marijuana among roses and redwoods. “I’m going home,” she says in the morning. “I’m with you,” he answers. “Are you sure?” She insists. And they get into the car.

What Peter does not know is that your home is many miles away in a place that Darren Grodsky, director of the film with Danny Jacobs (Bert and Ernie hilarious Sundance version), spent many summers.

In fact, Rosie, which leaves the physics laboratory for the boiler, is based on her aunt. So sorry. A delight.
