Janmashtami is a Hindu festival celebrating the birth of Lord Krishna who, according to Hindu belief, was an avatar of the Hindu god Vishnu. The event is known with lots of different name through out India such as ‘Gokulashtami’, ‘Srikrishna Jayanti’, ‘Sree Jayanthi’ or ‘Ashtami Rohini’.
Every year the event is celebrated all over the country to show the devotion and attachment of Lord Krishna’s followers towards ‘Vishnu’ and for this year, as the major event has approached so near, the ‘Smartha Sects Brahmins’ from all over in India are all set to celebrate the religious event of Krishna Janmashtami 2010 tomorrow on 1st September, 2010 while the same event would be celebrated by the Brahmins, a group of Hindu believers who form the part of the ‘Vaishnava Sects’, on 2nd September, 2010.
Sri Sankara, a local TV channel in association with ISKON, is planning to bring the live coverage of Janmashtami 2010 celebrations on your TV channels for 48 hours on 1st and 2nd September, 2010.
Whereas, on the other hand, Dahi-Handi celebration, which is planed to arrive in Mumbai during Janmashtami 2010, is all set to get big moment to the winner participants.
As per the Janmashtami 2010 schedule announced by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, also known as ISKCON, this year the event ‘Sri Krishna Janmashtami’ will be celebrated with great pomp and show throughout the two days at Society’s base centre and at Krishna Lila Theme Park, Bangalore, India.
Last year, the biggest prize money was Rs. 2100,000, however it is expected to be set to rise three times for Janmashtami 2010.
