ESPN personality and former Sun-Times columnist, Jay Mariotti, has been arrested on a felony charge stemming from an alleged clash with his girlfriend in Los Angeles. ‘Jay Mariotti Arrested’ occurred early Saturday 21st August, 2010 in Venice.

As per the details confirmed by the officer Norma Eisenman, Jay Mariotti, the 51-year-old AOL sports columnist who has been hated and loved both in Chicago and on ESPN for his ferocious opinions on sports world, was arrested yesterday in the police department’s Pacific Division following ‘domestic violence’. Eisenman denied providing any further details regarding ‘Jay Mariotti Arrested’.

Police said “Jay Mariotti got into a violent argument with his girlfriend at a Santa Monica club, where Jay believed his girlfriend had been flirting with another man”.

Witnesses said “the two swap harsh words before getting into a car to leave the club”.

Before Jay Mariotti’s release, just prior Saturday noon, the official website of LA Sheriff’s Department confirmed “Jay Mariotti is booked on an unidentified felony charge at 5:45 am”. However, later it was reported that Jay Mariotti had been unconfined on $50,000 bail just afternoon yesterday.

Jay Mariotti, who resides in Los Angeles, is a reputed panel member on the ESPN show ‘Around the Horn’ and also writes a column for the AOL owned sports website Fanhouse.com on regular basis. Prior joining the AOL, Jay Mariotti was a longtime columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times.

Right after ‘Jay Mariotti Arrested ’, AOL stopped responding the phone calls and Josh Krulewitz, a spokesman for ESPN, also denied commenting on ‘Jay Mariotti Arrested’ by calling it a “personal matter”.
