Los Angeles, California (05news) – John Cougar Mellencamp is finally making the right move in his life, filing for divorce from wife!
The 59-year-old rock star has reportedly filed the legal documents for divorce from supermodel Elaine Irwin, his wife of nearly 18 years.
“John and Elaine are calling it quits, but have decided to be good friends forever,” confirmed a rep for the catchy rocker.
John Mellencamp, the popular American singer/songwriter/musician and occasional actor who is currently dating actress Meg Ryan, filed the papers with an Indiana court late on Friday 14th January, 2011 listing himself as the petitioner and his wife as the respondent.
Elaine Irwin, the 41-year-old American model who recently came back from LA after having a great time along with the two children she has from soon-to-be ex-husband Mellencamp, was spotted at Golden Globes after parties with Israeli venture capitalist Vivi Nevo, who took divorce from his wife Zhang Ziyi last year.
“Elaine and Vivi were recently introduced by mutual friends who they were both spending time with during the Globes weekend. They are absolutely just friends,” told a source.
John Mellencamp, who has been married three times in his life and currently resides in Bloomington, Indiana, married Elaine on 5th September, 1992 and has five children from all his marriages.
With Elaine Irwin, John has sons Speck and Hud. The former couple has reportedly opted to stay in Indiana to raise the boys.
