In a much shocking disclosure yesterday during an interview, Ken Mehlman revealed that he is gay!
According to Marc Ambinder, CBS News chief and politics editor for The Atlantic, former Republican National Committee chairman, Ken Mehlman, who also served Bush-Cheney campaign as manager, has announced publicly that, he is a homosexual.
Ken Mehlman said “It’s taken me 43 years to get comfortable with this part of my life. Everybody has their own path to travel, their own journey and this one is for me. Over the past few months, I’ve told my family, friends, former colleagues and current colleagues and they’ve been wonderful and supportive.
The process has been something that’s made me a happier and better person. It’s something I wish I had done years ago, but I didn’t”.
Ken Mehlman, who had remained the chairman of RNC from 2005 to 2007 and was a prominent part of Bush-Cheney campaign in 2004, told Ambinder “I have recently come to the conclusion that ‘I am gay’ and therefore I am looking to become an advocate for gay marriage”.
Ken Mehlman, who went public in part as he expected to be asked about his sexuality when it became known that he was participating in a fundraiser next month, further told that President Bush “is no homophobe” but, on the other hand, also acknowledged that the Bush administration used antigay initiatives for political gain, however, Ken Mehlman fought back against attempts to demonize same-sex marriage.
However, here one thing is noticeable that Ken Mehlman did not come out as gay until he was a part of government!
