Leslie Oudin, who is mother of tennis player Melanie Oudin says fans’ admiration for her 17-year-old daughter is a result of a hard women’s game. Oudin has become the youngest woman to precede the U.S. Open quarterfinals since Serena Williams in 1999.

17-year-old Melanie Oudin distinguished herself for extraordinary psychological hardiness in her run to the quarterfinals of the 2009 U.S. Open. Her focus and ability to classify were further underscored by potentially disturbing family circumstances. As per the records from Superior Court, Melanie’s father John Oudin, filed for separation from Melanie’s mother, Leslie. The couple was wedded in 1989 and has three daughters.

In his first objection, John Oudin filed for separation on basis of disloyalty, asserting that Leslie was “adulterous during marriage.” In her reply to the criticism, dated Aug. 12, 2008, Leslie Oudin denied the assertion.

Leslie was with Melanie Oudin for her whole U.S. Open run, after Oudin’s third-round triumph over ex- No. 1 Maria Sharapova, John Oudin came to New York for her fourth-round game against Nadia Petrova. He sat in the player’s box with the family for the whole game, though a row up from his spouse.

Sam Duvall, Melanie’s agent said that the family has respectfully declined state on the separation and the assertions and would not like to talk about personal matters.

The Oudin separation case proceeding is continued and a negotiation hearing is planned for Dec. 7.
