Libyan Plane Crash – News Updates!

Almost 103 people have been killed so far in a plane crash in Tripoli, Libya!

Wednesday 12th May, 2010 – The Afriqiyah Airways flight from Johannesburg to Gatwick Airport crashed at Tripoli airport. According to latest reports, at least 93 passengers were there on the plane. The 11 crew members were Libyan nationals but the passengers are believed to be of various nationalities.

“The aircraft, carrying 93 European, Libyan and African passengers and 11 crew members, is trying to land when it crashed” said Libyan Afriqiyah Airway’s officials.

A footage telecasted on Libyan state television showed large and small pieces of plane remains spread in a large field, while many police and rescue workers were carrying dead bodies with surgical gloves on thief hands and masks on faces.

Mohamed Zidan, the Libyan transport minister, said “an eight year old Dutch child is believed to be the only survivor in the Afriqiyah Airway’s Airbus-330 crash, arriving from South Africa earlier this morning”.

The boy is being treated in a local hospital at Tripoli and is out of danger.

The BEA air accident investigation agency said “a team of expert French investigators will arrive soon at Tripoli to take part in the survey of the accident”.

Airbus, the European plane-maker company which built the Afriqiyah Airway’s Airbus-330, said “Airbus will provide complete technical support to take a responsible part in the investigation of the accident”.

It is believed that the Libyan plane crash was a nothing but an accident as no reason behind the plane crash hasn’t been brought to light by the Libyan officials so far.
