Linda McMahon has won Connecticut’s GOP Senate primary after she reportedly setup a general election showdown touching the state’s attorney general.
Tuesday night Linda McMahon of Connecticut, the ex-wrestling executive, reportedly joined in the nationwide list of political outsiders who will carry the GOP banner into the fall campaign, after winning the Republican Senate nomination quite easily.
In Connecticut’s Republican Senate primary, Linda McMahon, the former Chief Executive Officer of World Wrestling Entertainment who along with her husband Vince McMahon operated WWE from its startup in 1980 until 2009, moved a bit ahead with a comfortable early lead over her two competitors i.e. the former Rep.
Rob Simmons, the one-time favorite in the race to join the list of political outsiders who, for some unknown reasons, suspended his political campaign months ago but recently got back into action, and the money manager Peter Schiff.
According to sources, Linda McMahon gained almost 48% of the total casted votes, with returns added up from 6% of the precincts. However, by the end-count Linda McMahon had a 19-point lead over former US Rep. Rob Simmons.
It is also confirmed by the sources that, Linda McMahon spent around $22 million for a come-from-behind convention victory, however, unfortunate still fell just a bit short of topping the 50% mark in Tuesday’s three-way victory.
Connecticut was one of four states holding gubernatorial primaries held on Tuesday 10th August, 2010 including Georgia and Colorado. In all these states, the endorsements brought pre-voting drama for our viewing pleasure!
