Meet the Parents – Review!
Meet the Parents, is an American comedy film written by Jim Herzfeld and John Hamburg. Released in year 2000, the comedy flick ‘Meet the Parents’ was directed by Jay Roach.
Along with its star-cast that include Robert De Niro and Ben Stiller, the film is about a series of ill-fated events that transpire a good-hearted but hapless male nurse who goes to meet the parents of his girlfriend.
The overall theme of ‘Meet the Parents’ is rather funny and romantic, however the whole thing turns out to be a little bit more than just ‘funny’ when things become more difficult for the poor male nurse, portrayed by Ben Stiller, because the father of the girl, Robert De Niro, is a very untrusting kind of a guy and that’s why Ben Stiller tries his level best to win the heart of his girlfriend’s father, but doesn’t get the desired level of success. However, the couple ends up getting married and the movie finishes at that.
Meet the Parents is a remake of a 1992 film of the same name directed by Greg Glienna, who also played the main character in that film and co-wrote the screenplay with Mary Ruth Clarke. The original movie’s rights were purchased by Universal Studios along with the intent of creating a new version.
Almost 8 years later, in remake the writer Jim Herzfeld expanded the original script but development was halted for some time as Jay Roach, who liked the expanded script very much, was willing to direct the film but Universal Studios declined him.
