Just one week after the Gulf Coast dealt with the worst environmental disaster in the entire history of USA and UK, the Midwest is now facing another problem i.e. Michigan oil Spill, as crew members have been trying to stop an oil spill of their own in Michigan since yesterday.

The ‘Michigan Oil Spill’ began a couple of days back on Monday night around 9:45 PM when an oil pipeline, that is a property of Enbridge Liquids Pipelines and is also the largest oil transporter from western Canada, sprung a leak in Marshall Township and started spilling oil.

According to the latest reports about ‘Michigan Oil Spill’, a state of emergency has been declared by the authorities in southwest Michigan County Kalamazoo, as official’s report said “up till now, more than 800,000 gallons of oil, as per a rough estimation, have reportedly been leaked from a 30-inch pipeline into a creek that flows into the Kalamazoo River in southwest Michigan”.

Authorities in Midwest have suggested that, all water activities in the Kalamazoo River should be put on hold until the situation is resolved as contamination of drinking water supply in county is seriously being feared by authorities.

Although the foul-smelling ‘Michigan Oil Spill’ has killed lots of fish, endangered other wildlife and caused some serious damages, however just to prevent any further damages from ‘Michigan Oil Spill’, the pipeline has been shut down and the cause of leak is still under investigation.

Local area residents, who live near the Kalamazoo River valley and Battle Creek, have also reported strong odors in the area, due to ‘Michigan Oil Spill’. Dana Allan said “I had no idea it would get this far,” “This is really, really sad. This is nasty”.
