Vocalist and song writer O’Brien got roped into creating a music video with his companion Matt Hartzler in their native land of Chatham, Ill. MTV and the makers of the video game “Rock Band” released a catalog of songs participators could utilize.

The group, Nerds in Disguise, shot a video by Lit’s My Own Worst Enemy and to their disclosure was chosen by judges as one of the five finalists in the competition. So far, their video has been viewed more times than any other video in contest.

Hartzler organized the video, with a house party being the focus of the tale. The rules limited the creation to 10 people, but as O’Brien pointed out, that figure is “too lame for a gathering.” So Hartzler used scam camera work to permit the same 10 people to play both a group of rockers as well a group of nerds who crash the party.

“There ends up being this unison,” O’Brien said. “It doesn’t subject who you are. No issue how cool you seem, you can also be an absolute nerd.”

Voting ends Tuesday, with the victor announced Sept. 13 at the MTV Video Music Awards in New York, where their video will be shown. Because of the journey time concerned, the winners will find out before the ceremony, but they won’t be permissible to inform anyone until it is announced on TV.

“If we succeed, it will be the hardest covert in the world to keep,” O’Brien said. “I’m confident there will be entire unmanageable excitement, held in check because I’m not permitted to talk about it. Sincerely, the first thing I’ll possibly suppose is ‘I expect I don’t miss too much school. That’s such a bore object to state, but whatever.
