A former US figure skating champion, Nicole Bobek, has been ordered to spend five years probation, a sentence that she thinks would surely be helpful her in order to bring her almost ruined life back on track, for playing a key role in a northern New Jersey methamphetamine (drug distribution) ring.

Nicole Bobek, who won the 1995 US women’s figure skating championship, was sentenced to five years on trial just yesterday on Monday 16th August, 2010 for being an active part of a crystal methamphetamine ring.

Nicole Bobek stifled up as she started to speak of how sorry she was during sentencing in Jersey City on Monday.

The 32-year-old skater, who was among those more than two dozen people who were accused of creating a network that had been circulating worth $10,000 of the drug every week for many years prior being captured,

pleaded guilty for being involved in the distribution of methamphetamine, a psychoactive stimulant drug, in June and also apologized for her actions yesterday at her sentencing hearing.

The alleged leader of Nicole Bobek’s drug distribution ring, named Edward Cruz Jnr, was sentenced to spend 16 years behind the bars, earlier this month.

Nicole Bobek, who also placed 17th at the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics where a US teammate named Tara Lipinski edged American Michelle Kwan for women’s figure skating gold, escorted by her mother applied to serve her probation near the family’s Jupiter, Fla. home.
