Shaquan Duley, an orange Country mother, has been arrested after two of her children drowned a couple of days back when the car, she was driving, went into a river in South Carolina.
Shaquan Duley did not have a cell phone so she walked some distance down the country road by the boat landing and flagged down a passing motorist to call the Highway Patrol, who were notified by the motorist around 6:15 am that a woman needed help getting her children out of a car.
Shaquan Duley was arrested on Monday 16th August, 2010 on a charge of leaving the scene of an accident after her two sons, still strapped into their car seats, were found dead in a vehicle that drowned last weakened in the river.
Earlier on Tuesday morning, Orangeburg County Sheriff Larry Williams told the CBS that his investigating officers are ready to present their case to a judge in anticipation of getting murder charges against Shaquan Duley, the 29-year-old woman whose children were found dead in a car in a river.
The Orangeburg County Sheriff said “though Shaquan Duley has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident, yet he hopes a judge will approve murder charges against her as the facts in the case are not supporting it to be an accident”.
It is still unclear if she had a lawyer.
Autopsies, on the bodies of 18-month-old Ja’van T. Duley and 2-year-old Devean C. Duley, are planned for today on Tuesday 17th August, 2010 to determine how they actually died.
