A sonic boom, the sound associated with the shock waves created by supersonic flight of an airplane when it goes beyond the speed of sound producing enormous amounts of sound energy, caused the locals to panic and rumbled the whole city of Seattle on 17th August, 2010.
According to the latest updates, the sonic boom thundered the Seattle city when two F-15 jets that were launched from the 142nd Air National Guard unit based in Portland broke the sound barrier just yesterday around afternoon while flying up from Portland.
As per the comments distributed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the sonic boom that happened Thursday afternoon came from two military fighter jets launched from Portland airbase after the pilot of a subjected aircraft violated presidential airspace restrictions in lieu of US President Barack Obama’s visit to Seattle for a campaign fund raising event for Sen. Patty Murray.
The sound was so horrifying that some people thought it was an earthquake. Others said that it was like a giant stomping his feet on the ground. However, upon further inquiries, it was later confirmed that the sonic booms came from two F-15 jets.
A Cessna 180 float plane, which violated the presidential no-fly zone, has been subjected of the breech. Laura Joseph, a passenger of the Cessna 180 who got puzzled after on of the F-15 fighter plane asked for their attention, said “I was unaware about the airspace violation that was caused by me and my team”.
However, later she apologized for inconvenience.
