Established 1943, the Dobbins Fire base was earlier called Marietta Army Airfield, the name was changed as Dobbins Air Force Base in 1950 to memorize Capt. Charles Dobbins. In 1992 the name was again revised as Dobbins Air Reserve Base which is currently spoken. Since its inception, hundreds of fire extinguishing incidents the Dobbins Fire has rescued throughout its history.

The Fire and Emergency Services of Dobbins Air Reserve Base is called Dobbin Fire and is staffed by civil service firefighters which are employed by the US Air Force Reserve Command. The department works for 24 hours and responds to various natures of emergencies taken place. The premier responsibility of the fire is to extinguish fire, EME, technical rescue; the department also helps in fire training of the rescuers.

Executive officers of the fire for the year 2008-2009 include Tom Garrett as President, Buddy Poole and Steve Schlange as Vice-Presidents, Charles Judson as Chief Steward, Rodney Long as Shift Steward A, Robert Burgard as Shift Steward B, Dwight Moses as Secretary and Robert Taylor as Treasurer.
