The plane chartered to Italian Multinational Oil & Gas Company ENI carrying 21 passengers crashed near the Central Ordinance Depot Karachi, soon after the takeoff and burst into flames killing everyone onboard, an aviation official said.

A spokesperson for the Civil Aviation Authority Pakistan Pervez George told the media that the chartered plane crashed near “COD” located near Karachi International Airport soon after takeoff due to technical problem.

The plane was on its way to Bhit Shah in Interior Sindh, where Oil & Gas Company ENI’s oil field is located, some 190KM northeast of Karachi City.

It has been told by Pervez George that, minutes after taking off from Jinnah International Airport Karachi, the pilot contacted the control tower and told them that there is some problem with one of the plane’s engine.

The pilot further told the control tower that there are 19 passengers and 2 crew members onboard.

According to latest reports 12 bodies out of 21 have been recovered by the emergency crew members on the location, while other bodies are being searched.

According to actual story, on November 17, 1970 a twin-engine, 95-seat Southern Airways DC flight 932 departed at 6:38 p.m. for Kinston carrying 75 Marshall University football players, coaches and fans. The plane was suddenly crashed during its flight killing all the passengers. This chartered and twin-engine flight was also accompanied with a crew of five including pilot, a first officer, two stewardesses and a charter coordinator when it was crashed.

According to details, the crew contacted with controllers at Tri-State Airport at 7:23 p.m. for clearance of landing but the controllers inform plane crew of rain, fog, smoke and a ragged ceiling. Witnesses at across the Big Sandy River saw the big aircraft overhead and thought everything was normal except that it seemed low. One of the witnesses said that he had heard the roar that plane engines, after it, the plane disappeared over the hill in West Virginia.

At about 7:36, tower personnel saw a red glow west of the airport. The jet had smashed with a tree on a hill. The plane struck leaving behind several pieces of its right wing and nose. All 75 people on board died. The crash is labeled the worst air disaster in American history.
