Vermillion High School and University of South Dakota has found common grounds on the use of Dakota Dome. Vermillion High School and University of South Dakota are about to reach an agreement that will make district to pay more than they were used to pay in the past for use of the Dome. The agreement will give school district opportunity to use the athletic facility more frequently.

The Vermillion High School has to pay $ 35,000 for the first year to use the facility with an option to pay $ 15,000 in the second year of the agreement or payment of a lump sum $ 50,000 to use the facility. Vermillion High School has to pay $ 1000 more for the third year to use the facility for their student athletes.

The agreement will serve as a breakthrough in the impasse that blanketed the earlier agreement for some of Vermillion High School officials looking to build their own football facility.

The committee constituted to reach an agreement includes representatives from USD, the school district and people from the Vermillion community.

The committee held at least five meetings to come to a certain agreement for the use of facility between schools and universities with the possibility of payment from local entities in the shape of yearly fees or capital investment in Dakota Dome for its extended use.

President for Vermillion High School Board, Mark Bottolfson has iterated that they were working on such lines that they might be able to utilize this extended use of facility in a very positive way by using it for more games, or even for ninth grade games and JV games.

Students at Vermillion High School would really love if the agreement takes a final shape as winter in their district becomes as severe as it could be and having a dome to play and watch their favorite game will be a real joy for them.
